New Microsoft Software Takes Aims at RIM Customers

Microsoft expects its System Center Mobile Device Manager 2008 to win over organizations that buy phones in bulk to distribute to their work forces.

SEATTLE (Reuters)-Microsoft Corp. introduced software on Monday to manage advanced mobile phones much like personal computers, taking aim at a business dominated by Research in Motion's BlackBerry.

IBM, MediaTek to develop wireless broadband technology

IBM and Taiwanese chip designer MediaTek on Monday announced a three-year pact to develop wireless chipsets for a new technology to transmit large volumes of information, such as full-length high-definition movies, between DVD players, HD-TVs, hand-held devices or other gadgets around the home or office.
